A Deep-y kinda weekend

So after being much impressed with Johnny Depp's performance in "Once upon a Time in Mexico" (which was thoroughly entertaining) & his recent hating of America I had to check out this, how you say, "Pirates of the Caribbean". My observations on the movie:

Depp is currently America's greatest actor.

Keira whatever-her-name-is looks totally like Natalie Portman.

With that new "Underworld" film in mind, I would totally pay to see a Skeletons Vs. Mummies movie.

Suikoden IV announced!!!

I was almost positive they would put out another game but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it's going to be coming out so soon. Konami's showing it at the Tokyo Game Show this month which means it should ship in Japan in mid 2004 which translates into a late 2004 / early 2005 release for us! I'm still writing my Suikoden III review but rest assured, I loved it.

The dirty Sons a-bitches

Now all of us Final Fantasy freaks will have to buy the horrible (or so I am told) Unlimited Saga in order to get a bonus DVD.

Disgaea is Dis-gooda

Disgaea (pronounced "dis-guy-a" gaea being an alternate spelling for gaia who was the Greek god of the Earth and therefore has become synonymous with the planet itself.) has done nothing but impress me in these first 5 hours of play. Full of humor and personallity, Disgaea feels like a light-hearted yet somewhat adult anime show, complete with the gameplay broken up into "episodes" and even hilarious narrated previews for these episodes. It's the type of game that seems to offer a whole lot of depth, but only if you want it to. Put it this way: I'm enjoying it so much at this point that I'm probably going to put Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced on hold until I finish it,... yeah it's that good.

Tactics Mania!

Ok so first Gamespot declares Final Fantasy Tactics one of the greatest games of all time (and rightfully so). At the same time “Disgaea; Hour of Darkness” is released and receives some very good reviews. And now Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced is upon us. So it seems that I’ll be “tasticsizing” it up for the unforeseeable future, starting with Disgaea today and once I’ve finished it, on to FFTA.

I was just thinking the same thing

Jeepers Creepers 2 brought up an old discussion between pAjAmO and me about whether or not we should be supporting an artist’s work when we know they’ve been up to something naughty. pAjAmO says that the Jeepers Creepers 2 guy did a stint in the joint for some sort of sexual impropriety, but that he’s out now having served his time. I feel that it’s perfectly fine to support an artist’s work after he’s paid his dept to society. This is not what’s going on with our friend R Kelly who was caught on tape doing some bad things and is still evading justice. And if you’re buying his music, you’re helping him do it. So quit that! Same with Roman Polanski, the dirty fucker. This is a direct transaction of money. Unlike those crackpot theories on how SUVs and pot smokers support terrorism. Stop creating nations and military bases in foreign countries, that’s how you stop terrorism, jackass!

The Modigga!

This labor day I discovered an incredibly fun game that allows you to dick over your friends. It's called Modigliani, The Art Auction Game. Now I know what you're thinking: "Art Auction? But that's already fun, how could you make an entertaining board game out of it as well?" Don't ask me how they do it, folks, I just know it's deliciously evil. I would tell you to pick it up and try it yourselves but that doesn't appear possible. Like most things I like it seems to be a rare find.
