Kill Bill is Chopsaki-rific!

I was very excited for this film’s release and yet I wasn’t quite ready for it. The first twenty minutes really took me by surprise. Kill Bill is a great homage to all of those movies I used to watch on Samurai Sundays and it knows it. My only question is will the general public?

P.s. The Japanese imports (chopsaki legend Sonny Chiba and teen sensation Chiaki Kuriyama) steal every scene they’re in. Tarantino really has a knack for casting and getting the most out of his performers.

That’s a lotta video!

IGN put up a 33 minute video interview with some of the people heading up the Suikoden 4 team. It’s a tad long and you may think that this is exactly what e-mail correspondence is made for (there are long gaps where we have wait for the English translation). But I found myself very amused and interested in what they had to say. Plus once you download it you can pause it and resume whenever you wish.

I read a book!

Even though most of my time seems to be consumed by Cubs games as of late I was able to read the wonder “The Da Vinci Code” book. I’m sure this is old news to most of you but I just wanted to be on record as a “Da Vinci” backer. This is a very clever very interesting novel, well worth the couple days it should take you to read it.

In with the Old and the new

IGN gave “Viewtiful Joe” a 9.5! This means that Gamespot will come in around an 8.8 to 9.2 when it publishes their review this Monday or Tuesday. High praise indeed, Pajamo had loved the preview he was able to play and I must say I am more than a bit interested in this title. However while watching the IGN video review I couldn’t help but wonder if this 2 dimensional brawler would be right for me. I haven’t really played a game like that since the olden days of gaming, playing “X-Men” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” in the arcade. Maybe this is a good time for me to get that Gamefly service that the guys at P-A were talking about.

Gamespot also ran a news story giving out a few more details on the Final Fantasy 7 CG movie sequel, telling us who was involved in the production. The great thing about this is that due to all the clicks that news story generated, the six year old “Final Fantasy 7” became the number 1 game on the “most popular overall” list. Long live the king.

Looks like it worked

Nintendo is reporting a huge increase in sales of the newly reduced-price Gamecube. But I still can't help but wonder if the Cube will see 2005, it is game sales not console sales that drive the industry. With more consoles out there Nintendo will now sell more games but will it be enough or will we be back to a two console market as there was traditionally over the last 15 years?
