wtf?

So Sean Penn is mad at the South Park guys for saying "If you don't know what you're talking about, there's no shame in not voting." in an interview? So he'd rather have people blindly follow celebs like him instead? If you're not informed on the issues and won't go get informed on them you shouldn't vote. Penn, U R dumb.

Penn is hardly uninformed. I understand your beef against the uninformed voter but hge is not one of them.

and when are trey and matt gonna face the facts that they're appraisal on voters is just as celebrity pretentious as penn's.

they are funny guys but more knowledgeable then penn? i doubt it.

they are basically very funny, young and proudly ignorant guys. their basic premise for the whole south park series is "hey, right or left, both are screwy, let's wade in the middle and not take a stand!" and of course, this appeals to the immature kind in all of us. Awseom-O rules!

but come on, they are WAY out of their league being compared to Penn.

omg! we just had this conversation, and we both agreed that I was right! I never called Penn uninformed I said that uninformed voters shouldn't vote and I stand by that. And who cares if they are more or less knowledgeable than Penn on politics?

Here's the main problem: we shouldn't even know what celebs are thinking about politics and stuff. Even genius Sean Penn is hardly qualified to comment on poly-sci issues, it's not as if he's got a degree in it. Parker and Stone are criticising this idea that because you are famous your opinion is better than the regular people, and you were right on the phone that Parker and Stone are just of guilty of doing it too in that interview. But since they were in an interview trying to be funny I'm ok with that.

Even this letter is Penn's way of using his fame to get his point across. And again, I'm saying it, I don't care what you're point is because you were in Mystic fucking River. If he really wants to do some good in this election he should be trying to inform voters on ALL the candidates or trying to lobby to remove the idoitic "winner take all" system in the electorial college. Not "I'm Sean Penn and I was against the war in Iraq" which is what his current fucking platform is.

Penn:
"I do mind when anybody who doesn't have a child, doesn't have a child at war, or isn't or won't be in harm's way themselves, is encouraging that there's 'no shame in not voting."

What's his point here? That if the war's not going to effect you directly you should suck it up and vote for the benefit of those the war will effect? Your vote is your voice and it should always be done with your best intrests in mind. None of this "take it for the team, bullshit" you have to do what is right for you first and foremost then think about the rest of that.

Or is his point that if you're not one of these people with the war kids you shouldn't say anything as if to say his kids (if he has any) could go off to war. Please like your fucking kids will have to go get drafted. You'll just go ship them off somewhere if they ever reinstitute the draft. Rich people don't go to war.

bottom line, it doesn't matter which celeb is more informed on issues the point is we shouldn't be listening to any of them because they're not informed enough in general and about our own personal situations.

my issue with your post was generated from the "penn u r dumb" comment. clearly, he isn't dumb.

and since when is voting about "the voter's best interest?" i mean, if that was true we'd still have slavery. lincoln wasn't blakc or a slave when he abolished slavery.

voting should be for the good of the people not "me me me!"

zomg, best b-ruce.com thread ever. well, except for several others. but who died and made Sean Penn smart? he seems like kind of a buffoon to me.

Also, revisionist historical studies indicate a strong possibility that Lincoln may have actually been black and/or a slave and/or both at the time he abolished slavery. See: www.revisedhistory.com

In conclusion, Trey Parker and Matt Stone combined are way smarter than Sean Penn ever will be. As a gestalt, they are the man. Actually, Parker is the smart one, although Stone is still better than most of the content in Bowling for Columbine. In summation, Marilyn Manson is a boob.

The sad thing is that all this crap and the movie isn't even worth mentioning. It's message is tame and confused and pretty much all of the jokes and themes were done in South Park first and better.
