The duty, civic
The duty, civic
So I voted today which is no big deal, I've done it before and I'll most likely do it again. Not to mention that the presidential race was pretty much all sealed up well before we Illinoisans got our say.
But why I'm telling you is this: as I was going through the ballot I noticed that one of the men running for Judge of something or other was named "Michael J. (Yakov) Fox". What possesses a man to run for public office under the name of a sitcom star? Why would he think that people would equate the guy who played Alex P. Keaton with judiciousness?
He should have put "Redd (Yakov) Fox" on the ballot, then maybe I'd have considered supporting him. "Do you hear that Elizabeth? I'm coming to join ya, honey! It's the big one! I hereby sentence you to 50 years with no prospect of parole, ya dummy."
In the continued spirit of doing the right thing I went on over to the blood bank and had my tissue typed as a possible bone marrow donor. A newspaper article made itself to me a week previous and informed me that “Minorities are underrepresented on the registry” of marrow donors “so it can be even more difficult to find a match” for minorities in need. So I guess now that they’ve got my blood on file I just sit and wait to see if I’m Chinese enough to help a brotha or sista out. It’s been a while since I’ve had a needle shoved up my arm and now I remember why. Also in the years since I’ve been leeched they’ve switched from nerf or inflated balls to hackysacks, in my irrational hatred of hippies I cringed slightly when the vampire (I’m not sure what the technical term for a person who draws your blood is, so we’ll go with this) placed it in my hand. I cringed again when I felt that the “hack” wasn’t even broken in.

heh good entry. if you don't like getting needled, you probably shouldn't donate marrow. i think it's supposed to be painful. and i wonder what happens if you put non-chinese marrow into a chinese person?
I don't mind the needles so much, it's just getting stabbed in general that I try to avoid.
As for the non-chinese vs chinese marrow, I've been lead to believe that unlike blood types, donor marrow needs to come from someone with similar DNA, thus putting marrow donated from a chinese person into a non-chinese would probably not be compatable enough on the DNA level, the non-chinese person's white blood cells would probably attack and destroy the new marrow and the non-chinese person would still need a transfusion, but would probably see some small improvment in the understanding of mathmatics and a slight decline in the quality of their driving ;)
It's not so much that Chinese people drive badly. It's that they drive totally crazy. I imagine you have to be a really good driver to come out of the experience in one piece.
I don't really believe in those sterotypes, just trying to make a joke based on the absurdness of them.
I've found that the craziest drivers are not of any one race, creed or religion but rather those drivers who are NOT me when I am also driving. There's been times where I'll get seriously mad at every single other car on the road. Driving too slow, driving too fast, not staying in their lanes, not signaling when turning, not turning when in the turning lane, not stopping at stop signs, stopping too completely at stop signs etc. etc. etc. You people with your "automobiles" are insane.
