Some codes are made broken

A few years back I put up a heavy bag in my living room. Then to give my workouts better structure I created a boxing timer program in visual basic. But the program was never quite right. The timing seemed ok but the display was wonky. After getting back into programing with the whole XNA thing, I decided to take a second look at that program. It seems good enough now to offer to you: boxing timer

huttah!

Augustus' imfamous double punch. Thanks to jetrecording.com for gif!

Check that out. Emanuel Augustus won his fight last Friday, but as you're all avid Emanuel Augustus Watch readers, you already knew that. Augustus' showtastic and humane (after his opponent started acting very strange from a glancing punch to the head, Augustus looked to the ref. to stop the fight and after the doctor let the fight continue only threw body shots and even let his opponent back him up to the ropes and throw punches at him) performance has garnered him some much deserved attention both from the boxing media and the fans. With 60+ fights Augustus has more than paid his dues, it'd be nice to see him parlay this attention to cold hard cash.

Wow, Chico

The final round of the Chico Corrales, J.L. Castillo fight was one of the best I've ever seen, maybe the best. Castillo's inability to fall down is truely amazing but also proved to be his undoing tonight. Had he fell just a few seconds before the ref. stopped the bout he might have been able to survive the round, and fight to protect his lead on the judge's scorecards.

Copout post of the week

Before you ask, yes I did see Arturo Gatti’s stunning one-punch (and a body punch at that!) knock out yesterday night. I wish him congratulations, said praise is also due to Jesse James Leija for out working a lazy Bojado (who may have suffered some sort of injury in the early rounds, he whispered something in substitute cornerman Buddy McGirt’s ear in-between rounds 3 & 4 or somewheres around there).

And as a bonus, here’s a stupid thought I had today: “huh, the house key’s made by the same company as the lock, what a coincidence.”

Anchorman and new fan site

Didn’t do too much this weekend. But I did see Anchorman yesterday. It was hilarious. I was laughing loudly and often and so was the rest of the theater. The strange thing is I can’t really explain any of the jokes or gags in the film. It’s one of those things that you have to see to understand.

I spent a good deal of today designing a fan site for Emanuel Augustus, the veteran boxer. There’s not a whole lot there right now but the main purpose of the site is to alert the public of Augustus’ upcoming fights, so I think the bulk of the site is set up.
